The CompEx Foundation Ex F module is recognised by the self-regulated sector of industry as a necessary component of your employee’s personnel competency matrix. For this reason, it is considered that assessment of the knowledge imparted by the training will be an essential integration of any programme and can support you with your site explosion protection strategy in demonstrating compliance and the consideration of risks relating to the latest requirements of the European ATEX Directives, DSEAR regulations and international IEC 60079 Standards.
On completion of this course, candidates will have:
- A greater understanding of the current directives, standards and regulations relating to hazardous areas
- Awareness of typical flammable atmosphere situations and types of release of the characteristics of gases, vapours and dusts
This course contains no practical skills training or practical assessment and is therefore more suited to anyone involved in Hazardous Area work that does not actually conduct installation or inspection of electrical equipment. Unlike the other CompEx units, no prior knowledge of hazardous areas is required for full participation in this unit.

CompEx is a national joint training initiative developed and implemented by the Engineering Equipment and Material Users Association (EEMUA). JTL is supported by the Health and Safety Executive.JTL who is that national training agent for the Electrical contracting industry has been appointed to develop, operate and manage the training provision across the UK and has licensed and accredited a number of centres to deliver the training and assessment. On successful completion of this 2 day course the candidates will be issued with a certificate of core competence by JTL and EEMUA.
UK Training Centre
Our CompEx Training Centre in Swansea, South Wales provides training and assessment for the whole of the UK and is for Electrical, Instrument & Mechanical Engineers, Supervisors and Technicians who need to develop and demonstrate their competency in the selection, installation, inspection and maintenance of “Ex” apparatus in potentially explosive atmospheres. We also provide on-site training as an option for clients requiring the CompEx ‘F’ Foundation Course.

CompEx is a worldwide recognised qualification for ATEX and IEC electrical installation and inspection. The curriculum consists of practical training and assessment in a realistic, safe working environment and is rapidly becoming a required worldwide qualification. Our hazardous area trainers have worked in hazardous areas over many years and are highly experienced and qualified to deliver training for explosive gases and vapours, intrinsically safe systems and combustible dusts.
ATEX Inspection, Installation & Consultancy Services
